My honest review of Olay Regenerist Retinol24

It has now been a couple of months since I have been using Olay Regenerist Retinol24 consistently. Since I have been using it for a while now, I decided to give you my 100% honest review. I do want to make it clear that this is not a sponsored post. I bought this retinol with my own money.

Before I start talking to you about my opinion on Olay retinol, you should probably know what retinol is, and what the benefits are to better understand what I’m talking about.

I started using Olay Regenerist Retinol24 because I was looking to purchase my first retinol ever. At first, I did not know exactly what look for. My mid 20’s were here, so I knew it was time to look for one.

I knew I was starting to lose collagen production and knew retinol helps with that. I didn’t know of all the other benefits it offered until I started doing my research.

Using the retinol serums scared me a little bit. I did not want to irritate my face if I used a strong concentration or if I accidentally used it more than what my face could handle.

While doing my research I found great things about Olay Regenerist Retinol24. Since it was a cream I did not have to worry about the strength of the retinol and how often to apply it, which I liked.

What I noticed with my skin using Olay Regenerist24

As I said, I am in my mid 20’s so I can’t judge if it diminishes wrinkles. I can however attest to diminish the appearance of my scars. As a teenager I suffered through some bad acne that left me with a reminder well into my 20’s.

One day I noticed my face started to look much clearer, brighter but didn’t give it much thought as to why. I decided to inspect my face one day to find out what exactly had changed. It is then I noticed the scars I had on my left cheek are almost gone!

There’s still some noticeable scarring on my right cheek since that was the hangout spot for my pimples. I now wish I would have taken a before and after picture.

Some of my freckles have also disappeared, which I am a little sad about that because I love freckles. If you only get freckles during the summer then you are not applying enough sunscreen! Here is some great sunscreen to buy.

My cheeks have always been naturally rosy until recently. The pink is still there, but not as much. I am assuming that over time my skin tone will be completely even.

Retinol is also supposed to make your pores appear smaller. I, unfortunately, have large pores due to my combination skin. If you don’t know what your skin type is you can learn here. Knowing your skin type is pretty important to know to best treat your face.

I haven’t really noticed much of a difference. The pores close to my nose seem a tiny bit smaller, but nothing to write home about… yet.

Just to be clear, you can only make pores appear smaller with skincare products. Although there are procedures you can do to shrink your pores but they are really expensive.

Some facts about retinol

I apply my Olay Regenerist Retinol24 only at night since it is a night cream. When I do apply it, my face feels well moisturized and it is not greasy whatsoever. Retinol is pretty drying on its own, so I enjoy using it in a cream form since it gives me all the benefits without worrying my face will be dry.

If you have dry skin then the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 might be a great investment. Just to be clear retinol is not only for wrinkles. If you are waiting to get wrinkles to start applying retinol you will be too late to the game.

What is so great about Olay Regenerist Retinol24

While doing my research on what retinol I should start off with, there was one thing that really caught my eye with Olay’s retinol. First of all not all retinol’s are created equal, molecular weight is very important when it comes to retinol.

If the molecule is too big then it won’t penetrate then skin and it will just sit there. I learned that Olay Regenerist Retinol24 uses retinyl-propionate which is able to penetrate through your skin.

Curious to know how the retinyl-propionate can penetrate through your skin? Well, it does something really sneaky. Basically its“an oil in water emulsion in which the water is on the outside and the oil phase is hidden away inside consisting of teeny-tiny droplets which contain the retinyl-propionate,” according to Frauke Neuser, MD, Olay’s principal scientist. This allows for the ingredients to not hit your skin all at once, but rather gradually during the 24 hour period.

Did you know that the 24 in the name is referring to the number of hours it will remain potent? What this means is that “their blend of actives continues to penetrate the skin over the course of an entire day” according to Dr. Neuser

I couldn’t find the concentration percentage in Olay Regenerist Retinol24, but I am assuming it’s not high since you can use it every night.

Although the Olay Regenerist Retinol24 might not be a high concentration, research shows that even if you are applying a low concentration of retinoid, over time will have the same anti-aging effects as one with a higher concentration. So don’t worry about not getting the same results as using a high concentrate retinol.

Olay Regenerist Retinol24 powerful ingredients?

This retinol also contains vitamin B3 which helps the skin retain moisture giving you more hydration. This vitamin also helps with face skin cell turnover and regeneration, as well as exfoliation to remove dull skin. That explains why my face has felt brighter with a slight natural glow without having to apply any oils or serums.

This retinol contains amino peptides which are chains of amino acids and the building blocks of skin cells. What these molecules help do is make your skin smoother and firmer, yes, please. It also contains glycerin which helps counteract the retinol’s drying effects.

I don’t have one single bad thing to say about Olay Regenerist Retinol24. Again, this is my honest opinion. Olay did not send me this product. I can see myself using this retinol for a long time as I was able to see the results in such a short amount of time.
