We are living in a time where we don’t know when our life is going to go back to normal. I have here 4 ideas for self care you can try. This can cause a lot of stress for many of us for obvious reasons. We all know stress is never good and when it comes to things we can’t control it can be really stressful.

If you are at home now and don’t know what to do or how to feel some control over your life then check this post out.

I completely understand you are stressed out, let me help you feel a little less stressed out and relaxed during these tough times. FIRST, I want you take a deep breath. Do it! And say “ everything will be okay, everything is going to work out.” You must believe it or else it will NOT come true.

#1 Ideas for self care: Go to sleep early

First thing you must do is have a sleep schedule. During these times it is hard to keep up with the days of the week and even the time of day. I know a few people who are going to sleep at random times of the day and night.

Although it can be a lot of fun to bake brownies at 2 in the morning, it is not ideal for a good sleep schedule. Going to sleep at the same time every day and having 8 hours a sleep a night can not only give you a routine, but it is the start to a self-care routine.

Not sleeping enough hours can cause many health issues such as heart disease, it can also affect your immune system. We especially don’t want to mess with our immune system during this type. We need it strong to protect us!

If you have trouble going to sleep then consider not having sugar or caffeine a few hours before going to sleep. Avoid starring at a screen right before you go to sleep. Netflix will still be there tomorrow. Try drinking some chamomile tea or take some melatonin vitamins to help you relax.

#2 Exercise

Whether you love it or hat it, I think we can all agree that after we exercise, we feel better about ourselves. I don’t know about you but whenever I exercise, I feel like I have my life together. Suddenly I feel like I feel thinner. Am I the only one?

Making exercise apart of your life helps you physically and mentally. Exercising helps reduce stress and anxiety and boosts your mood which I think we can also agree its super important right now.

If you have been using time “time off” to eat whatever you want, then exercise will help get rid of that extra poundage. Although gyms are closed for now, that is no excuse! Invest in some good running shoes, buy some cute workout clothes to motivate you!

#3 Ideas for self care: Do some meditation for anxiety

Have you tried meditating before? Sometimes I notice that I am taking short shallow breathes and am not breathing properly. It is like I forget how to breathe! Sometimes have to remind myself to take deep breathes when I am feeling anxious.

I can’t meditate for long without my mind wandering off so I only do 5 minutes a day (I am still very new to this.) I use the app Headspace to do my meditation. They have a free version (what I use) and a paid version.

The free version is all you need if you are just starting out. They have a meditation called “Breathe” which is what I use when I feel I haven’t been breathing properly. They also offer “meditation-in-motion,” which is a more active form of meditation. If you don’t like the idea of sitting still, this is a good one to try. They are also offering a free one-year subscription for the unemployed!

There are a few more excellent free options and the paid ones are even better. You can just search what type of meditation you are looking for such as “preparing for an exam” or “finding focus.”

I highly recommend you check it out, at least the free version. They even offer meditation for kids. Meditation is a great way to calm down and focus on the present. Put your anxious thoughts away and just focus on your breathing. Breathe in… breathe out…

#4 Skincare is self care

My favorite way to self-care, in general, is putting on face masks! Put on some comfy clothes, some upbeat music and do a little dance! If you prefer to feel like you are at a spa then put some relaxing music instead.

Make it a party and pour yourself some wine or if you are more like me make yourself some iced coffee. Have you tried the whip coffee yet? I have and I love it. If you still haven’t then check this video out to learn how to make it. I personally love it with oat milk or almond milk.

Where to start

Now its time for the best part, grab your favorite face mask and put it on! If you haven’t had a skincare day in a while then you might want to exfoliate your face.

I really love using Teami’s Facial scrub. While I am applying to my skin it feels like its moisturizing my face while scrubbing away all the dead skin cells that prevent my face from giving off a glow.

Okay I want you to go grab a mirror and take a close look at your face. Do you see any blackheads? If you do then you must try the Vassoul Blackhead Remover Mask. This mask helps with not only blackheads but with acne, but stains on your face as well. If you have dull and uneven skin then this can also help! Is it just me or does seeing the gunk against the black mask give a satisfying feeling.

There’s a bunch more I can keep talking about but the last I will mention is the Bliss what a melon reviving and de-stressing overnight mask. If your face is looking a little dehydrated and dull then give this mask a try. Watermelon is made out of 92% water so this face mask might give you the plumpness you are lacking!
